CVSSP Awarded Four New Projects in Visual Media

CVSSP has awarded funding for four new projects in visual media research starting this Autumn.

These projects build on previous research in reconstruction of human shape and motion from video in collaboration with the creative industries in film broadcast and games. John Collomosse and Jean-Yves Guillemaut have both contributed to the success of these proposals. The four projects are:

  • Body Shape Recognition for Online Fashion (EPSRC: London College of Fashion, Bodymetrics)
    -Recognition of body shape at home for use in online clothing retail.
  • SyMMM - Synchronous Multimodal Movie Metadata (TSB: FilmLight, DoubleNegative)
    -Investigating onset acquisition of metadata from multiple camera systems for film production.
  • RE@CT - Interactive Animation from Actor Performance Capture (EU FW7: BBC, OMG, HHI, INRIA, Artifacto)
    -Interactive entertainment production in parallel with conventional 2D broadcast production.
  • SCENE - Novel Representations for Movie Production (EU FW7: Technicolor, Intel, ARRI, HHI, BarcelonaMedia)
    -Integration of depth acquisition in movie production to allow manipulation of real content with the flexibility of computer graphics.
