Guardian interview with Professor Adrian Hilton

Monday 14 March 2011

On 14th March the Education Supplement of the Guardian Newspaper featured an interview with Professor Adrian Hilton
under the heading “Goal-line technology brought closer by latest academic research”.

Adrian discussed the CVSSP’s collaboration with the BBC in connection with the “iview” project. The article opened with Frank Lampard’s disallowed goal at the England v Germany World Cup tie, in relation to which Adrian is quoted as saying “In principle the iview system can also solve specific goal-line issues, but the main reason it wasn’t used in the World Cup was the approval of the governing bodies rather than the technology itself.” The article then went on to discuss further projects involving 3D capture and Model fitting that the CVSSP is engaged in.
