CVSSP in the PASCAL2 Network of Excellence

Tuesday 10 May 2011

The University of Surrey joined the PASCAL2 Network of Excellence (NoE) in the beginning of 2010.

This NoE is funded by the European Union and has 1094 members over 64 institutions from Europe, Australia and Israel, all sharing an interest in Pattern Analysis, Statistical Modelling and Computational Learning. Its main purpose is to support and encourage collaboration between its members in these areas. PASCAL sponsors joint projects, visits, workshops, competitions (such as the VOC challenge), etc. Members benefit from a very active mailing list which disseminates news about events, datasets, scholarships and job opportunities. Furthermore, each PASCAL member automatically gets an on-line profile
which lists their publications and interests.

Surrey has 46 members, the majority from the CVSSP and a few members from the Department of Computing, and members of the CVSSP have been very active within PASCAL, having obtained PASCAL sponsorship to organise four workshops:

Our activity score was ranked the 3rd place among the 39 non-beneficiary member institutions, which is an exciting achievement, and we very much hope to increase even further our involvement with PASCAL activities in future years.
