Congratulations to Professor John Illingworth who was recently bestowed the highest accolade in his field – he was elected as the 2012 Distinguished Fellow of the British Machine Vision Association, BMVA.
The award recognizes a lifelong contribution to computer vision. A single award is made annually and past winners include Professor Sir Michael Brady, FRS, Professor Andrew Blake, FRS (current Lab Director of Microsoft Research Cambridge) and CVSSP’s Professor Josef Kittler, FREng.
Professor Illingworth has made important technical advances in machine vision as well as being founder member and past chairman of BMVA. The award was presented to Professor Illingworth at Brooklands during the banquet of the Association’s annual conference, which coincidently was hosted by Surrey this year.
