The prize was set up in memory of Tony Jeans, a popular member of academic staff who had been with the University since 1971 and was regarded as a truly excellent teacher.

It is awarded annually to a member of teaching staff in the Department, as nominated by the students, as the “most inspiring”.

It was clear from the nominations received that Dr Collomosse was felt to be inspirational in the way in which he encouraged students to learn beyond the material within his modules.

Nominations conveyed  the passion he brings to the subject, his encouragement and how he makes difficult concepts easier to understand. This was John’s 5th consecutive year of being nominated and so it is great to see his passion and excellent teaching ethos being recognised.
