Biography

Dr Erhan Ekmekcioglu was born in Konya - Turkey, in July 1984. He completed his undergraduate education in 2006, in Middle East Technical University (METU), Faculty of Engineering, Dept. of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. After the completion of his undergraduate education, he was accepted to conduct his Ph.D. research in University of Surrey. He has studied in the area of multimedia communications and more specifically in the area of Three Dimensional (3D) video. He has presented several research papers in a variety of international conferences and has published several articles in related scientific periodicals. He has spent around two months as an intern in Deutsche Telekom Company, Berlin, and presented his collaborative works in two conferences. He has edited a chapter in one of the visual media communication related books.

Dr Ekmekcioglu is currently working in the multimedia communication systems research department (I-Lab) of University of Surrey as a research fellow and participates in two, 3D related projects, both of which aim at bridging the gaps towards the commercialisation of the 3D multimedia delivery to home. He is conducting his academic research in the areas of capturing, processing, coding, transmission and rendering of 3D visual media. He is a member of several national and international professional organisations.
