Surveillance

Surveillance refers to remote observation of a physical site, person or a group of people. The applications range from terrorist counter measures, through monitoring public places such as transport infrastructure (airports, underground, train stations), to intrusion prevention. The key technologies are motion estimation and tracking, and anomaly detection.

Innovative techniques have been developed in CVSSP for robust motion detection and tracking of people and multiple objects. The sensitivity of the proposed solutions has been demonstrated to facilitate a long-range lip tracking and lip reading. The pioneering integration of on-line learning and tracking at CVSSP enables the tracking of objects and people whose appearance changes with viewpoint or is subject to occlusion.

Novel approaches have been developed for automatic learning and calibration for multi-camera surveillance systems. World leading technology for anomaly detection in complex systems, with emphasis on anomalous behaviour, has been developed.
