Biography

Nick is a Chilean cultural theorist and performance practitioner based in London. He is currently a Lecturer in Dance and Digital Arts at the University of Surrey, having previously worked there as Research Fellow. He previously worked as Research Assistant at Goldsmiths College and the London School of Economics, and as Visiting Lecturer/ Director at East 15, University of Essex. 

Nick's work focuses on the study of mathematical languages and computer languages in movement analysis and the digital performing arts. In 2008 he co-founded with Juley Hudson C8 (Digital Performance Objects), an artistic collaborative that has produced a number of performances and installations in this area, including at the Antonin Artaud Building (Brunel University), Milton Gallery London, Lockwood Studios (Goldsmiths) and Ivy Arts Centre (Guildford).

Nick is also a Member of the board of directors of Performance Studies international, and Chair of the Independent Scholar Committee (PSi). In 2011, alongside Professor Rachel Fensham (University of Melbourne), Nick set up an independent research platform for the development of new research in the area of new media and movement visualisation called MoVe (Movement Visualisation in e-Research).
