Introduction to the module
London Casebook is designed to support creative practitioners and address changing and innovative agendas in the performing arts and film, through institution, archive and dramaturgy. This course engages critically with the processes of making performance, film, theatre, dance and writing. By viewing and discussing key cultural events in London this course helps you to locate yourself in current cultural practices and the debates that shape London as a global and cultural destination.
You will meet leading arts practitioners and build your professional and creative networks. Your final assessment is to produce a 'Casebook' documenting your research and observations of a particular area of interest to you. This project will include reference to selected readings from the course bibliography and resource lists. Students will be encouraged to interpret their findings using images, visual analysis, performative writing, performance analysis and archival research. This module offers an excellent development opportunity for film-makers, actors, directors, playwrights, teachers and anyone with an active interest in the arts.
