Surrey bursaries
University of Surrey Bursaries are delivered in conjunction with the National Scholarship Programme (NSP). Please note that the terms and conditions of the NSP are subject to change and therefore our bursary schemes may change in order to meet these regulations. We currently anticipate offering the following to students commencing their studies at Surrey in 2014:
Full Surrey Award
Students with a household income of £25,000 or less will be eligible for a full Surrey award paid as follows:
First year of study
£3,000 accommodation discount for students living on campus (for those living off-campus the option of a £1,000 cash bursary and £2,000 tuition fee waiver is available instead).
Each subsequent year of study
£1,000 cash bursary and a £2,000 tuition fee waiver.
If a professional training year is undertaken, the whole fee for that year will be waived.
Partial Surrey Award
Students with a household income of between £25,001 and £30,000 will qualify for a Partial Surrey Award and will receive a £500 cash bursary and £1,000 tuition fee waiver in all years of their programme (excluding the professional training year).
The University of Surrey also offers a guaranteed minimum bursary of £1,000 on entry to qualifying students who have been in local authority care.
Eligibility
To be eligible for either the Full or Partial Surrey Award, your household income must meet the given criteria and you must be paying the full £9,000 tuition fees. This means that students on NHS funded programmes are not eligible for the bursary. Please note that the information about household income is taken from the student’s application to Student Finance so an incorrectly completed application may affect eligibility.
