Discover the University of Surrey

We have some of the best new academic, library, sports, arts and accommodation facilities of any university in the UK, as well as one of the most envied Professional Training placement programmes in the world. This combination of prestige, expertise, resources and lifestyle is unique, and it’s all to be found here in the beautiful countryside of the Surrey Hills just half an hour from central London.

Campus environment and accessibility

Situated on the side of Stag Hill not far from Guildford’s town centre, the University campus is self contained.

All facilities are close to each other and the campus setting offers a controlled environment to live and study. Staff are easily contactable and amenities are on hand.

As the campus is on the side of a hill, ground floor levels between buildings can vary widely. Level changes in footpaths are generally stepped which can cause difficulty for students with mobility problems. However, there are routes to most places on campus using ramps.

If you have mobility difficulties, you should also contact the Faculty Fire Officer (through the Academic Faculty Office) who will discuss an evacuation plan with you. We recommend that you visit the campus in advance to ensure that we meet your needs.

How easy is it to get around the campus?

Most of the campus and its buildings are generally accessible to students with mobility difficulties.

Students who have most successfully managed the campus have powered wheel chairs, mobility scooters or use their own cars.
