Biography
Giovanni Melina has received a Laurea magistrale cum laude in Economics and International Management from the University of Naples Parthenope. He then received a Master of Science in Economics with distinction from Birkbeck College, University of London and a Dottorato di Ricerca in Economics of the Public Sector from the University of Salerno. He has recently completed a PhD in Economics at Birkbeck College, University of London.
In 2008 he worked as an economist in the International and Finance Directorate of HM Treasury and in 2010 he completed a PhD internship in the Western Hemisphere Department of the International Monetary Fund. Over the years 2009-2011 he worked as a teaching assistant at Birkbeck College, University of London.
He joined the Department of Economics of the University of Surrey in 2010 as a Research Fellow in Macroeconomic Modelling and his work contributes to ESRC project "Monetary and Fiscal Policy Rules with Labour Market and Financial Frictions", directed by Prof. Paul Levine. His research is in macroeconomics and applied econometrics and focuses primarily of the macroeconomic effects of fiscal policy.
