Joanne Evans graduated with a BEc (Hons) in Economics from LaTrobe University (Australia) in 1994. She went on to obtain a MCom in Economics from the University of Melbourne in 1997. In 2000 she moved to the University of Hull (UK) to undertake a PhD. During her doctoral studies she held a position as a graduate teaching assistant. She joined the Department of Economics at the University of Surrey in 2004.

Research Interests

Jo's principal research interests are in regulation of utilities. She also has a more general interest in the application of microeconometics across a variety of microeconomic areas. She has worked on electricity regulation and (in 2003) gave evidence to the House of Commons Trade and Industry Committee on British Electricity Trading and Transmission Arrangements (Pre-legislative scrutiny of the draft Electricity (Trading and Transmission) Bill).
