Economics Scholarships
Undergraduate
Two alumni sponsored undergraduate scholarships are available for 2013 entry, the Prior Scholarship and the Jim O’Neill Scholarship.
- To be eligible to apply for the Prior Scholarship students must achieve A*AA at A level and elect Surrey as their first choice.
- For the Jim O’Neill Scholarship students must achieve AAA at A level and elect Surrey as their first choice. The student’s family income should be £30,000 or below.
Both Scholarships will provide £3,000 a year for 3 years depending on the student maintaining a minimum level of 2.1 throughout their studies.
Students will be able to apply for the Scholarships once they have an unconditional firm offer from the University. Applicants will be notified of the decision prior to pre-registration week (mid September).
A student can apply for both Scholarships but cannot receive both the Prior and Jim O’Neill Awards. Students can however receive in addition the University’s Chancellors Scholarship, a University Sports Scholarship as well as any other bursary, prize and award for which they are eligible if successful.
Postgraduate
As a member of the ESRC funded South East Doctoral Training Centre, the School of Economics offers excellent research training and the opportunity to be part of a vibrant research community. Applications are invited for funded studentships as part of the South East Doctoral Training Centre (http://southeastdtc.surrey.ac.uk/), to commence in October 2013.
The School of Economics, a dynamic and academically successful unit, is looking to recruit highly motivated doctoral students. We are one of the UK’s leading academic centres for Economics, with an international reputation for both research and teaching at all levels. Applications are invited for funded studentships as part of the South East Doctoral Training Centre (http://southeastdtc.surrey.ac.uk/), to commence in October 2013.
Proposals are encouraged in any of the areas in which the department has expertise which include macroeconomics, energy economics, applied microeconomics, financial econometrics and econometrics.
DTC studentships will cover Home/EU fees and pay an annual stipend of £13,726 per annum (the rate for 2012-13) and are only available to Home/EU students to fund either a part time or full time PhD (up to 4 years of funding).
