Research Degrees

We offer individually tailored research projects as part of our PhD programme.  This will provide you with a unique experience in which you will study to become an expert in your chosen field.

All of our PhD students are members of one of the Research Centres within the Department:

A PhD normally lasts for 3½ years, during which time you will be supported by two academics who you will meet with on a regular basis.  You will also be part of the larger Faculty Graduate School community, which brings together researchers from all parts of the Faculty.  As part of the Graduate School you will attend a training programme that will help you gain the skills you require to become a fully-fledged researcher.

For details of research projects available please visit the relevant research centres web pages as listed above. Alternative projects are very often formulated through discussions between prospective students and individual staff members and so if there is an area that interests you but you are unable to find the specific project listed please contact a relevant member of staff to discuss further.
