Do you want a university education that combines applied science with engineering design to produce the next generation of computers, mobile phones and satellites? If so studying for a degree in electronic engineering at the University of Surrey will expose you to an exciting and up-to-date curriculum leading to excellent career prospects with the University being number 1 in the UK for graduate employment. We can also offer you a paid year in industry, either in the UK or overseas, as part of our industrial placement scheme which can count towards your degree. The list of our degree courses, which can be taken for a BEng and MEng degree, for October 2013, is given below:

A key strength of our degree programme is its flexibility. Firstly, we have a common first year across all of the Department’s degree programmes. This means that there is an opportunity to change your degree once you have settled into University life and experienced further what is taught and what interests you. Secondly, it is possible for you to enroll initially for a BEng degree but to change to the MEng degree programme should you wish to, depending on your academic performance whilst studying here. The MEng programme differs from the BEng degree in that it provides a deeper understanding of some of the specialist technical areas and is seen as the degree of choice by many major employers and a faster route to Chartered Engineering (CEng) status. Finally, it is possible to incorporate a professional placement year as part of your degree, even if you have not enrolled in your first year to do so.
Our Department is organised into four research centres - the Advanced Technology Institute, the Centre for Communication Systems Research, the Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing and the Surrey Space Centre. In the most recent UK assessment of our research (called the Research Assessment Exercise), our Department was ranked second nationally in Electronic and Electrical Engineering for the high quality of our research. Each of the Research Centres contributes to the Department's teaching ensuring that our curriculum is as up-to-date as possible.
