9.30am Festival Opens! All Friday events take place on campus. All events, except the Secondary Students workshops, are open to the general public. All Friday events are free admission, with the exception of the Launch Party (£3/£5, tickets available at the University Box Office or at the door.)

9.30-11.30am Secondary Student workshops  (only open to Secondary students)

11.30am-12.30pm Workshop/discussion, and Q&A with digital designer and author Chris Stevens. (Free, open to the public) Location TBA

12.30pm Book signing with Chris Stevens at the Appleseed Bookshop

12.45-1.30 Lunch

1.30-2.30pm Performance/talk/Q&A with spoken word artist and Marshall Programme Speaker Garrett Turner. (Free, open to the public)

2.30-3.30pm Panel discussion: Modes and modalities of audiovisual translation: Audio description and Monolingual Subtitling with Veronika Hyks, audio describer; Helen O'Brien, subtitler; Dimitris Asimakoulas, lecturer in translation studies (Free, open to the public)

3.40-4pm Flash Reading Mob, Appleseed Bookshop

4.00-5.15pm Drop-in Writing Surgery with Surrey Creative Writing faculty Dr. Vlitos, Appleseed Bookshop

5.30pm-10pm: Surrey New Writers Festival Launch Party and Celebration of the launch of Surrey’s MA in Creative Writing. Readings by Paul Vlitos, David Ashford, and Holly Luhning, and a performance by Festival Songwriters-in-Residence, the Unicorn Lazers. Firs Room, Wates House, Stag Hill Campus. Doors at 5.30pm, readings at 6.30pm, band at 8pm.

11am Festival Resumes! All Saturday events take place in Guildford, at Abbot’s Hospital and 3 Pigeons Pub. All Saturday events are open to the public. Sessions at Abbot’s Hospital are £3/£5 each, or a day pass for £10/£15 (tickets available at the University Box Office, or at the door); the Mixer and Veer Book Launch are free of charge.

11am-11.30am Songwriters-in-Residence, Unicorn Lazers, busking session Guildford high street (free, but feel free to throw the Lazers some change if you like their show!)

11.30am-11.45am Welcome and coffee in Abbot’s Hospital

11:45am-12:45pm Poetry and Publishing Panel, featuring Stephen Mooney, Alwyn Marriage, and David Ashford. Moderator TBA, Abbot’s Hospital

12:45pm-1:45pm Lunch with author Liam Bell. Come have lunch with author Liam Bell, and discuss his latest novel, So It Is, which is our featured “Festival Book.”  Liam will offer some insights into the process of writing and the life of an author, as well as be available for Q&A and general discussion about his novel. Abbot’s Hospital (tea, coffee, biscuits will be on hand, but please BYO lunch.)

1.45pm-2.45pm Humour and Writing Panel featuring Paul Vlitos, Cornelius Medvei, and Tim Miles. Moderated by Chris Stevens. Abbot’s Hospital

2.45pm-3.45pm Editing and Being Edited Panel featuring Alison MacLeod, Karen McCarthy Woolf, and Michael Bedo. Moderator TBA, Abbot’s Hospital

4pm-5pm Agent’s Corner: Discussion and Q&A with Samantha Haywood, literary agent with and partner in the Transatlantic Literary Agency. Moderated by Holly Luhning. Abbot’s Hospital

5pm Industry Insiders Mixer: have a pint and mingle with the panelists. 3 Pigeons Pub (free admission)

6pm-8pm Veer Books, Spring titles launch. 3 Pigeons Pub. Hosted by Stephen Mooney and Holly Luhning. (free admission)

8pm Festival Closes!
