Surrey Poetry Festival
The 2017 Surrey Poetry Festival, in conjunction with the New Writers' Festival, will take place on May 6 from 12am at GLive in Guildford. Featuring:
Caitlín Róisín Doherty
The Surrey Poetry Festival, now in its seventh year, has become one of the best-widely-leaked secrets in poetry. Our line-up continues the tradition of gathering together groundbreaking and spellbinding voices from across the UK and beyond. See the festival's Facebook page for more information.
Tickets cost £5.50 (£3.00 for students) for the full day, and will be available at the door.
This year, the Surrey Poetry Festival is happening alongside the Surrey New Writers Festival, which will feature discussion panels with novelists, scriptwriters, literary agents, publishers, and other creative industries professionals. Ticket-holders to the New Writers Festival will also have access to the Poetry Festival.
Surrey Poetry Festival's history
For the last six years the University of Surrey has been delighted to host the Surrey Poetry Festival, the latest stage in the university’s on-going commitment to the study, writing and performance of poetry. The organisers acknowledge the inspiration and support of Morag Morris, who has co-ordinated all previous poetry-related events, and the funding provided by the then Department of English, without whom this festival and the University Poetry Fellowship would not be possible.
The festival line-up each year features readings, talks and installations from some of the most exciting, thoughtful and questioning poets in the UK.
