Surrey Poetry Festival

The second annual Surrey Poetry Festival takes place on the 19th May 2012.  The festival will be held at the beautiful, historic Guildhall building on Guildford High Street, and has an international line-up of poets, as well as film screenings, a book table, and a student showcase.

Surrey Poetry Festival's history

Last year the University of Surrey was delighted to host the first Surrey Poetry Festival, the latest stage in the university’s on-going commitment to the study, writing and performance of poetry. The organisers acknowledged the inspiration and support of Morag Morris, who has co-ordinated all previous poetry-related events, and the funding provided by then the Department of English, without whom this festival and the University Poetry Fellowship would not be possible.

Last year the Festival line-up featured readings, talks and installations from some of the most exciting, thoughtful and questioning poets in the UK.
