Languages Open Day
Tuesday 24 January 2012
On Wednesday 18 January, we opened our doors for the Languages Open Day to celebrate the New Year in our new home (the new ‘gold’ building adjacent to the library). A steady stream of visitors came to us on the 3rd floor of the Learning Centre which was festooned with flags and balloons especially for the occasion.
As well as being able to look round our lovely new facilities, visitors were offered talks on a variety of subjects providing an insight into what we do. These included IELTS, the Global Graduate Award, the English Language Support Programme and LACES. We also covered Translation, Interpreting & Research, Pre-Sessional English and our Evening Language courses. Some pungent French cheeses, as well as other light refreshments also went down well!
It was a good opportunity to meet with colleagues from across the University and to explain more about our wide variety of activities. We had visitors from Admissions, Registry, Law, Physics and Chemistry to name but a few.
The event was a definite success and we hope to make this an annual event.
