Biography

Nick is currently assisting with two EU-funded research projects: Interpreting in Virtual Reality (IVY), and Assessment of Video-Mediated Interpreting in the Criminal Justice Services (AVIDICUS). The IVY project aims to design and develop a virtual training environment with ready-made bilingual and monolingual materials where interpreting students can practise interpreting skills in a range of modes and where clients of interpreting services can learn about interpreting and find out about working with an interpreter. The AVIDICUS project explores the use of vide-mediated interpreting in criminal proceedings.

Within the Centre for Translation Studies, Nick is also involved in the running of the new interpreting laboratories and in providing support for interpreting students and tutors.
