Frequently Asked Questions
- When and how will I know if I have been accepted into a class?
You will receive an email to say whether your application has been successful. This may take place after week commencing 21st January so your application may appear as 'pending' until then. To find out if you have been allocated a place, please check your University email regularly or visit the registration page to check your course bookings.
- When should I register?
Registration opens on 14th January. You are advised to register early to secure a place in a class but please do not apply until you have your timetable.
- When do classes begin?
Most classes start week beginning 4th February and run for 9 weeks.
- What will happen if I miss a class?
We will cancel bookings of students who fail to attend the first two lessons without informing us in advance. We do this in order to accommodate as many students as possible in our classes.
Please note that regular attendance on writing courses qualifies you for tutorials to discuss your work. Full attendance on a 'Dissertation Writing ' course qualifies you to apply for the dissertation checking service.
If you are ill or have another valid reason not to attend, please e-mail english@surrey.ac.uk, preferably prior to the class. In case of prolonged illness you will be required to provide a medical certificate.
