“The Queen's Anniversary Prize is the most prestigious honour open to a UK university. We're delighted to have won the prize again. It acknowledges that Surrey's research in crucial fields such as safe water and sanitation is second to none.”
Professor Christopher Snowden, Vice-Chancellor
The University has been working towards the provision of safe water for over 30 years. It has amassed unique and priceless experiences and expertise, developing a reputation for excellence in research and practice among fellow academics, governments and disaster relief NGOs.
The Environmental Regulatory Research Group is a key component within the formation and structure of SWIRL, which itself is the vehicle to aid cross campus collaboration within the university’s water research activities, building on the work which has won the University the Queen’s Anniversary Prize. The work of Dr Francesco Sindico (formerly Deputy Director of ERRG) was a key element in receiving an EPSRC KT Fellowship via SWIRL to build on his work regarding transboundary aquifers. There has also been strong collaboration between ERRG, the Centre for Environmental Strategy and the Robens Institute through our joint projects regarding the provision of safe water and sanitation in the developing world.
