How to Apply

1. Contact your exchange coordinator

To be eligible for an exchange with the University of Surrey, you must be a registered student at one of our partner universities. Many partnership agreements are subject-specific, so check that the agreement with Surrey is in your subject area. The International Office/Study Abroad Office at your home university will be able to provide you with help and advice.

Check our provisional module catalogue to see whether we offer modules that fit with your study programme at your home institution. Discuss your module choices with your home department.

Register your interest with the appropriate Exchange Coordinator at your home university. This may be the Departmental or Institutional Erasmus Coordinator if you are in Europe, or may be the Study Abroad or International Office if you are outside Europe. It is important that you make your application in conjunction with your university, as there may be a limited number of spaces available.
Your university must officially nominate you by email before you can apply. The nomination should include your full name, subject area, level of study, whether you wish to come for Semester 1/Semester 2/Full year.

Nomination deadlines:
For autumn entry (late September): 1st April
For spring entry (early February): 15th September

If you are a non-European Economic Area national who requires a visa to study in the UK, we will also send you a letter or an email containing a CAS number for you to apply for your Student Visitor Visa or Tier 4 Visa respectively. For information about visas, see the UK Border Agency website or contact our International Student Office on international@surrey.ac.uk.
If you have applied for university accommodation, the Accommodation Office will contact you in June/July for autumn entry or December for spring entry to let you know whether you have been allocated university accommodation. If you have not, they will provide you with guidance and assistance in finding accommodation in the private sector.
