Last year’s recipient Ralph Rutter (pictured right with Margaret Westwood), who is studying for a Masters in Maths, said his year at North Carolina State University opened his eyes to other cultures and his own sense of British identity.
“I learnt so much about different cultures as I was living with around eight other nationalities,” said Ralph. “I hope I don’t have so many misconceptions and I developed a love for American culture that I didn’t have before. I now feel part British but also part a citizen of the world and I would love to travel more.”
