Internationalisation in FAHS
The Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences has embraced the University’s commitment to internationalisation and is implementing the university strategy at Faculty level. We aim through our international engagement to stimulate a range of research collaborations, joint publications and staff and student exchanges with our key partners in the University Global Partnership Network and with other institutions internationally who share our interests and commitments. In recognition of the wide spectrum of disciplines represented in FAHS, international activity will remain diverse with bi- and multilateral engagement with different institutions.
The Faculty’s International Committee has representation from all Schools in the Faculty, Politics, Arts, Psychology, Sociology and English and Languages and acts as a driver for international activity at Faculty and School level. The Committee work closely with the Registry, International Relations Office and Marketing all matters relating to student exchange and joined/dual programme development.

Associate Dean International for the Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences (FAHS) Professor Marie Breen-Smyth, leads international work in the Faculty. Marie, is part of the university's international team and together with the Faculty International Officers in each school or department, is responsible for taking forward the work of internationalisation in FAHS. The Faculty of Arts and Humanities contains the universities' expert linguists and extensive language training facilities and provides these facilities to support international work across the university. This includes both formal courses and informal opportunities.
FAHS also contains a wide range of staff who work internationally with colleagues across the world in the fields of psychology, performing arts, linguistics, translation studies, literary studies, film, sound recording, sociology, politics, creative writing, dance amongst others, and the School of Politics also has expertise on international politics. The faculty also has a huge resource in its international students, who organise a wide range of student societies which offer social and cultural opportunities to students. FAHS also has a diverse international team of academic, administrative and support staff. In FAHS, as in the university as a whole, we work hard to ensure that people from all over the world, as well as local people, can enjoy learning, teaching and exchange in a cosmopolitan atmosphere, where you can find space to meet your fellow country people, speak your own language and eat food from home.
