International research
Each School in FAHS has its own research centres and projects, many of which are international in nature.
In English and Languages, the ARCTIC project led by Doris Dippold is researching the way international companies manage cultural transactions. The Surrey Morphology Group investigates grammar in a broad sample of languages using formal and statistical frameworks. The Centre for Translation Studies also has a number of EU grants.
The School of Politics has two internationally focussed research centres, The Centre for International Intervention (cii) and the Centre for Research on the European Matrix (CRonEM) and houses the British Academy and British Council project which partners Surrey with colleagues in Al Ahzar University, Gaza, Birzeit University in Ramallah and the Center for Comparative Conflict Studies (CFCCS) in the Faculty of Media and Communication, Singidunum University, Belgrade.
The School of Psychology has three research groups, Brain and Behaviour, Health and Wellbeing and Enhanced Thinking, each of which contains transnational projects and international collaborations. As well as housing a range of international research projects, the Department of Sociology holds regular international workshops on theory and methods and hosts a Visiting International Fellowship scheme, which is aimed at supporting advanced development in the state of the art in social research methods by supporting international scholars to meet with members of the Department on methodological projects of mutual interest.
School of Arts is the home of the Digital World Research Centre which focuses on user-centred innovation in digital media for social benefits.
