Widening Access Fund

Applications are invited to the Widening Access Fund which provides financial assistance to the University’s faculties and central services to undertake projects designed to further the following aims of the University’s Widening Participation & Outreach Strategy

  • Develop technology and research to support WP and outreach activity;
  • Evaluate current learning and teaching experience, preparation for the non-academic side of student life, and progression into employment and/or further study;
  • Research and develop opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate students to be involved in the design and delivery of widening participation and outreach activity;
  • Identify and develop partnerships with schools and support for students, teachers and parents that can be impact assessed.

The total value of the Fund is £100,000 and bids may range from £20,000 to £100,000.  Funding is anticipated to commence in January 2013.

The bids will be considered by a Panel consisting of the DVC (Academic Affairs), PVC (L&T), Chair of the Widening Participation and Outreach Sub-committee, and an External Expert in WP.
