CEAD Scholars

The Centre for Educational and Academic Development (CEAD) Faculty Scholar scheme began in September 2008. The aim of this scheme is to promote the scholarship of teaching and learning within and across the different faculties of the university. The first CEAD Faculty Scholar in FBEL is Dr Andy Adcroft.
Since September 2008, there have been three major projects carried out:
- A study of the motivations to learn and expectations of learning of undergraduate students in the Business School. This study involved almost 600 students from all levels and initial findings are being published in the International Journal for Management Education;
- A study involving 80 academic staff and 600 students from across the Schools of Law and Business which examined the purpose and practice of feedback across the Faculty;
- A Higher Education Academy project (with the Universities of Aston, Glamorgan, Leeds, Liverpool, Portsmouth, Southampton Solent and Ulster) on career support for new academics. Findings from this study are to be published in the International Journal of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and the International Journal for Academic Development.
The Faculty of Business, Economics and Law delivers high quality and innovative teaching and learning and is constantly looking to enhance its work in this area. For more details on this approach to enhancement see Adcroft, A. and Lockwood, A. (2010) Enhancing the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning: An organic approach in Teaching in Higher Education, volume 15.
