Academic Information for Outgoing Exchange
General advice
The exchange programme allows students to study abroad as part of their degree, without paying additional tuition fees. Students continued to be enrolled at Surrey, and as such are bound to the University's academic regulations in the same way they would be if they remained on campus.
Students must complete and pass a prescribed number of modules whilst on exchange in order to fulfill the requirements of their degree programme. The number of modules a student takes abroad depends on the degree programme they are enrolled on and the partner University they attend.
School specific requirements
- Students enrolled with The Surrey Business School and the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management must match the compulsory element of their programme running in semester one of level two. They may also need to enroll on additional modules to make up a figure specific to the partner University. Marks achieved on exchange are not transferred on to the Surrey transcript.
- Students enrolled with the School of Law study abroad as part of the Professional Training Year. They are required to pass a certain number of modules in order to obtain 30(ECTS) credits or equivalent at the partner University. Marks achieved on exchange are not transferred on to the Surrey transcript.
- Students within the School of Economics must pass a prescribed number of modules whilst abroad. The School does not transfer marks for students studying abroad for one semester, but does for those that choose to study abroad for a full year.
Once accepted onto the exchange programme you will be sent a list of modules recommended by the FBEL exchange team for your particular programme and destination. These can also be found on our Partner pages and on SurreyLearn.
