FEPS Learning and Teaching seminars showcase some of the excellent teaching activity in the Faculty, as well as in expertise from outside to provide examples of best practice.
Kevin Wells – Enquiry Based Learning for Level 1: Dump the Lab Manual .... and do something more interesting.
This talk will describe a Sceptre-funded project aimed at developing greater student engagement in the Level 1 Electronic Engineering learning process and the broader development of professional skills, by replacing traditional scripted laboratory sessions and professional skills workshops with student-led Enquiry based learning (EBL) processes. Embedding design activity and feeding this into a revised laboratory programme appears to produce better engagement with the development of broad professional skills and laboratory work.

In October 2011, FBEL introduced a peer observation scheme as a key mechanism in enhancing the quality of teaching and learning. This session will explain the rationale and mechanics of the scheme and share some of the positive (and negative) experiences.
