Entry Requirements

The EngD in SEES is funded by the Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council and specific eligibility criteria apply to all projects which can be found below and by visiting the EPSRC website.

All candidates must demonstrate a relevant connection with the UK. This means:

  • You must have been 'ordinarily resident' in the UK for at least 3 years immediately prior to starting the EngD and if you are an International candidate (ie. not UK/EU) then this cannot have been solely for the purposes of education;
  • You must have no restrictions on how long you can stay in the UK (e.g. indefinite leave to remain);

Candidates must also be able to demonstrate a capability to undertake and benefit from research training through to completion, to the standard necessary to qualify for an EngD. This means:

  • You must have at least an upper second class honours degree, or a combination of qualifications and/or experience equivalent to that level;
  • Postgraduate qualifications and industrial experience are looked upon favorably.

For more information please visit the EPSRC website.
