How to Apply
If you are interested in any of our available projects, please make sure you meet the entry requirements before applying.
You are welcome to submit a speculative application, where you will need to provide your CV in Word or PDF format. Your covering letter should explain why you are a suitable candidate for the SEES EngD Programme. Your application will be reviewed against each available project. If your background is suited to a particular project you will be contacted to confirm whether you would like to be considered for the post.
Alternatively, you can join our mailing list. Enter your name and email below to receive updates about projects as they become available.
All candidates must demonstrate a relevant connection with the UK. This means:
- You must have been 'ordinarily resident' in the UK for at least 3 years immediately prior to starting the EngD and if you are an International candidate (ie. not UK/EU) then this cannot have been solely for the purposes of education;
- You must have no restrictions on how long you can stay in the UK (e.g. indefinite leave to remain);
Candidates must also be able to demonstrate a capability to undertake and benefit from research training through to completion, to the standard necessary to qualify for an EngD. This means:
- You must have at least an upper second class honours degree, or a combination of qualifications and/or experience equivalent to that level;
- Postgraduate qualifications and industrial experience are looked upon favorably.
