With over 200 postgraduate research students studying full-time or part-time for PhD, MD or DClinPrac, the Graduate School provides a focus for our outstanding postgraduate research, supervision and training. Our extensive, well-established collaborations with industry provide knowledge transfer to the commercial sector and the wider community.
The Graduate School is the intellectual hub of our vibrant postgraduate research student community within the Faculty and provides our students with a positive, friendly and supportive environment from application to graduation.
Our administrative team advise on all administrative issues regarding admission, registration status and thesis submission.

Programmes and How to Apply
The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences offers the following Postgraduate Research Programmes:
- PhD/MD Biochemistry and Physiology
- DClinPrac Doctorate of Clinical Practice
- PhD/MD Health and Social Care
- PhD/MD Microbial and Cellular Sciences
- PhD/MD Nutrition and Metabolism
You can apply online by using the above links. The online application process will allow you to upload any transcripts and qualifications that are relevant to your application. Your application will be submitted electronically and reviewed by the appropriate department or school. An administrator will then be in contact to advise you on the next stage of the application process.
