Coverage

*Many multi-gene probes are directed against the terminal inverted repeats. In order to conform to restrictions in data analysis software these probes have been named after one of the duplicated genes.
**Of which 168 were removed prior to design including insertion elements, transposons, pseudogenes, partial sequences and genes < 100 bp. The primer design program could not find suitable primer pairs for 213 genes and 342 PCR products failed to give a single band. Details can be found  here. We plan to make probes for these missing genes.

Controls

Positives - A dilution series of probes against 16s and 23s rRNA.

Negatives - A number of PCR products from Pseudomonas aeruginosa PA01, an unrelated bacteria of similar GC content. These may also be used as probes against suitable exogenous RNA spiked into the samples before reverse transcription.

Other - Landing lights, PCR and spotting buffer blanks.

Known issues

A few naming inconsistencies have been corrected in the files for SCp14 onwards.
