The proposed seminar will be aimed at an advanced level of clinical and research interest and will cover the immunology, diagnostics and pathogenesis of infectious diseases with a special focus on emerging and re-emerging diseases; disease surveillance; drug resistance and genomic studies of equine pathogens.
Equine infectious diseases are important both from a welfare and economical perspective. Our knowledge and understanding of a wide range of equine infectious diseases continues to increase. However, despite these advances the control of many important infectious diseases of horses remains challenging. Furthermore, a number of significant infectious diseases have both emerged and re-emerged over the past decade. In the UK alone we have seen EIA, EVA and CEM in the past year.
