Account Configuration

You will now be asked if you would like to configure an account, by default this will select ‘Yes’ so you just need to click Next to continue.

Select Account Type

The University operates an Exchange email system. Select ‘Microsoft Exchange Server’ from the list and click Next.

Server Settings

You will then be prompted to enter some details about your account. The Microsoft Exchange Server address is; exchange.surrey.ac.uk. Username will be your University of Surrey logon username.

Once all of the details have been entered you can click Next. Outlook will then configure your email account for you.

You can now click finish to complete the operation. In some cases you may be asked to confirm your name from a list. Select the correct entry from the list and click OK.

Finishing

Once you have clicked finish Outlook will then configure itself and you may see a box like the one below. This can take a few minutes to complete, when it has finished it will automatically close and Outlook will begin downloading your email. Depending on the size of your mailbox this may take quite a long time. You are OK to quit Outlook at any time and the download process will resume when it is opened again.
