Nursing & Healthcare Research Theme
Within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, there are currently around 15 academic members of staff who are actively engaged in research related to the Nursing & Healthcare Research Theme.
Improving outcomes for patients is at the heart of our research. Our multi-disciplinary approach draws together expertise from across the University of Surrey and our NHS and other academic partners, in nursing and the allied health professions, clinical and bio sciences, health economics, sociology, health psychology, telecare and applied ethics.
We work closely with the Surrey Clinical Research Centre (Surrey CRC) and benefit from access to a team of academic experts who can assist with all aspects of trial design and management. Surrey CRC's mission is to support the safe conduct of high quality, collaborative clinical research in world-class facilities.
The Centre for Research in Nursing and Midwifery Education (CRNME) was established in 1998 funded by endowments from the General Nursing Council Trust for England and Wales and the Midwife Teacher Training College Trust. CRNME and is directed by Professor Helen Allan.
The International Centre for Nursing and Healthcare Ethics (ICNE), directed by Dr Ann Gallagher, is a worldwide collaboration of researchers in nursing and healthcare ethics focussing on issues of morality, professional ethics, philosophy of care, cultural and religious values, law and accountability.
