Biography
Charitini obtained her PhD in Health Policy from the London School of Economics in 2008. She was a Research Associate at Imperial College Business School prior to joining the University of Surrey in September 2009.
Research Interests
Charitini works in the area of Health Economics. Her research interests focus mainly on the doctor-patient relationship and the impact this has on patients’ decisions to adhere to medical recommendations, follow a healthier life style and get involved with their own safety.
Research grants
• Pump-Priming Grant, University of Surrey. Project title: “Risk and time preferences among doctors and patients: an empirical study in Greece”, March 2010. Amount awarded: £10,000.
Research Collaborations
Charitini currently works with Professor Dionysius Glycopantis from City University on theoretical models of the doctor-patient interaction using Game Theory.
She also collaborates with Dr Marisa Miraldo from Imperial College London and Dr Matteo Galizzi from LSE on an experiment on risk perceptions and time preferences among patients and doctors.

Teaching
Charitini teaches Health Economics for the MSc in Health Care Management.
She currently supervises two PhD students: Oak Suksa-Ard and Olubunmi Aregbesola.
