Two New Prizes

The School of Health and Social Care is offering two new prizes (funded from the International Centre for Nursing Ethics and the journal Nursing Ethics):
1) The ICNE Dignity in Care Prize
2) The ICNE Healthcare Student Ethical Practice Prize
These prizes have been inspired by the following editorial: 'Acknowledging small acts of kindness'.

The Maureen Wilson Award
A monetary prize of £100 awarded to final year degree students (one adult branch/one child branch/one midwifery) judged to have been the most professionally caring and excellent in clinical performance.
There is also a runner up prize for each branch/programme of a £50 book token sponsored by the Ted Adams Charity.
Royal College of Midwifery Vision Award

Rachel Yates has been awarded a Royal College of Midwifery Vision Award. Rachel wrote an excellent proposal for her planned elective trip to Sri Lanka and submitted a letter of support from her personal tutor Kath Lawton. On the basis of this, Rachel was short listed and won the award.
The Ted Adams Awards for Excellence in Practice

The Ted Adams Trust makes awards to promote and recognise clinical excellence for final year undergraduate students, including the Diploma in Higher Education, in Nursing Studies and Midwifery Studies at the University of Surrey in Guildford. Students are selected for their consistently outstanding performance in practice. Potential winners are nominated by their mentors in clinical practice placements and assessed on key aspects of performance that exemplify clinical excellence. Awards are determined by a panel chaired by a Professor of Nursing.
