How nursing should tackle its image problem

Professionals should work together to respond to the challenge of delivering care in a time of growing demands. Improving the image and practice of nursing requires individuals and organisations working together. The profession has been subjected to an onslaught with criticism coming from all quarters and recommendations for improvement coming from those outside the profession. Dr Ann Gallagher, reader in nursing ethics at the University of Surrey and editor of the journal Nursing Ethics has written an article for the Guardian on how to tackle this perceived image.
