Applications invited for Clinical academic training pathway internship opportunities starting October 2012 at the University of Surrey

Monday 3 September 2012

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) has established several awards to increase research capacity, support patient care and develop clinically based research within service delivery. The clinical academic training programme (CATP) is specifically for nurses, midwives and allied health professionals. The above awards provide support for undertaking study on MSc and Doctoral level modules that focus on research in practice and health service evaluation. They provide academic supervision, mentorship from a clinical leader, and support from employer as well as access to learning resources. This is an exciting award that supports the development of clinical research and the possibility of a research career. The award also provides funding to you for studying the modules as well as your Director of Nursing for you to have a short internship to develop clinical research.
The application process is simple:

Submit your curricula vitae to Professor Helen Allan (H.Allan@surrey.ac.uk) and a summary of the research you would like to address during the internship period. The summary should not be more than 500 words. Further information on application process and what needs to be included are available on the University web site in the School of Health and Social Care. The deadline for applications is the 7th September.

We hope that you will take up this opportunity. If you need further information or would like to discuss please contact either Professor Helen Allan (H.Allan@surrey.ac.uk) or Penny Robinson 01483 683120 (P.J.Robinson@surrey.ac.uk) or Stephanie Fuller 01483 689319 (S.Fuller@surrey.ac.uk).
