Training Materials for Carers

The packs below were developed during a research project that developed training for care assistants who work with people who have Parkinson’s disease. The use of the training packs has been fully evaluated.

The materials can be downloaded as six separate modules which consist of Introductory Module, What is Parkinson’s disease, Parkinson’s disease management, Parkinson’s disease and mobility, Communication, swallowing and nutrition in Parkinson’s disease, and Non-motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. Alternatively the modules can be downloaded as a series of fact sheets. Exactly the same material is covered in a series of fact sheets.

We hope that you will find them useful and informative. The same information is also available from the Guildford Parkinson’s Disease Research group website.

The documents are in A5 format.  We recommend that you set your printer to print two pages per sheet.
