Biography
Since qualifying as a registered nurse, I commenced my career pathway initially as a staff nurse in Coronary Care and subsequently moving to Intensive Care taking the role of Unit Sister. During this time, my enthusiasm for supporting learners within a specialised unit became apparent and motivated me to move into education as a Clinical Teacher involved in the Accident and Emergency Nursing Course. I undertook the PGCEA and gained qualified teacher status in 1988. Through the years, my experience in education and supporting learners in practice has developed a passion for assisting others to develop their skills in teaching, learning and mentorship. This experience has culminated in my current role as Director of Studies for the Learning and Teaching Framework. Within the framework modules are offered to healthcare professionals as preparation of the role of mentor, practice teacher and qualified teacher.
