Biography
A midwife with many years experience in both the management and education sectors. This includes the management of change in the re-organisation of maternity and gynaecological services. Involved with quality assurance of service provision to ensure safety in the practice areas and academic rigor in the University. As a Supervisor of Midwives practicing at the Royal Surrey County Hospital I utilise both my clinical and academic experience to support the midwifery workforce in general and student midwives in particular.
Teaching
Involvement in the following modules: Pre-registration: Supported Practice and Leadership and Practice. Post registration/ CPD: Return to Practice, Substantive Projects and MSc dissertations.
As a Supervisor of Midwives I also support midwives who are undergoing a period of Supervised or supported practice.
Departmental Duties
As Lead Midwife for Education (LME), I oversee all midwifery programmes and liaise with the Nursing and Midwifery Council when necessary. I am line-manager for the midwifery tutorial team and support other colleagues where appropriate. I provide strategic midwifery advice to the Division of Health & Social Care via the Academic Resource Group. I facilitate clinical placements by engaging with the Heads of Midwifery service in South East Coast SHA and work closely with the other 3 LMEs within the region. I have personal tutees from all midwifery programmes.
