Biography
Completed the 4 year degree programme in nursing at the University of Southampton, followed by position as a Staff Nurse (Medicine) at RSCH. Then undertook the midwifery short course at the European Institute for Health and Medical Sciences (EIHMS) at the University of Surrey in 1992-3. Worked in a variety of roles at RSCH as a midwife, completing my MSc in Advanced Midwifery Practice in 1996. Left position as a Community Midwife in 1999 to commence PGCEA at University of Surrey with teaching practice at King’s College London. Following completion of this I have worked as a Lecturer-Practitioner at King’s College London, as a midwife at a Birth Centre in Weston-Super-Mare & St Michael’s Hospital Bristol.
Have been a Midwifery Tutor at University of Surrey since January 2007 and continue as a Supervisor of Midwives at Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Trust.
Research Interests
Completed research for a degree on breastfeeding and for an MSc on folic acid supplementation
