Biography
Having worked with children and families for the last 25 years in both the acute and community sector, I have developed a level of expertise in working with children and families with complex and ongoing health care needs.
After completing my BA(Hons) in community health I became a lecturer practitioner from 1995 -2000 and then decided to enter into the HEI full time as a child health tutor. During this time I have continued to focus on young people’s health and well being and undertook an MSc in Anthropology of children and child development; this has enabled me to concentrate my teaching and research work with young people, and specifically considering the issues around end of life, and hospice care and adolescent mental health issues.
I am currently undertaking my PhD part time with the department of Sociology and focusing on the mental health and well being of young people.
Research Interests
Currently undertaking PhD research part time with the department of sociology; the focus for this work is with young people aged between 13-15years and how they negotiate their way through feelings of happiness and unhappiness
