Students' Union
During your stay at Surrey, you will make friends with other students on your course and also in your accommodation, but joining a club or society is another great way to make new acquaintances who share the same interests. You can get involved in activities that you wouldn't normally be able to, ranging from all manner of sports, through dancing (ballroom or Bollywood) and film-making to international societies representing your part of the world and elsewhere. For full details of the opportunities on offer and details on how to join, please contact the Student Union website.
The Students’ Union holds regular evening events and film screenings each week. You may also wish to take part in voluntary activities arranged through the Union.
Trips & Activities
The Students’ Union provides a wide variety of activities, experiences and events for you to get involved with – from craft workshops to trips abroad and everything in between. It’s a great way to make the most of your free time! Trips and activities can be tried on a one-off basis so you can get involved in as many or few trips as you like. Just make sure you get yours quickly as they can sell out extremely fast! Tickets are sold at the Union Shop unless stated otherwise. Visit Trips & Activites for the Spring 2011 programme which is out now. Or pick up your own copy at The Students’ Union.
International Festival
The IFestival is a great opportunity to get all the students together celebrating the vast array of cultures on campus. The festival will encompass an exhibition where there will be a range of different foods from across the world, Film nights, performances (IGala), workshops and trips. There are plenty of things for you to do and experience.
The IFestival is organised yearly by a group of student volunteers working alongside the Vice President of Societies, Societies, Activities coordinator and the Students Union Staff.
The International Student Office is pleased to support the IExhibition as part of the festival.
For more information go to the Students' Union website or ask in The Students Union.
The Postgraduate Association also organises many events and is there to offer advice and support.
