Ever since I was 6, I knew I wanted to come to the UK to study.  Because we're a Commonwealth country, we are very exposed to the British education system as that is what it is like back home, so I thought here would be the most appropriate place.  My grandfather served the British army and there was a lot of English influence in my family.

Location was important to my decision.  I wanted something close to London but not in London itself as it can be quite a distraction, and I wanted a bit of city life and a bit of countryside as well so I thought Surrey was brilliant.  I wanted something that was accessible.  I didn't want to have to travel from one campus to another using the underground and Surrey has everything in one place which I really like.

I didn't know anyone at Surrey before I joined, but I've made so many good friends.  I don't get homesick at all.  I love England I love university.  When I'm not studying, I love chilling out with mates, watching movies.  I used to be in the badminton club in the first year and I played some netball.  I also joined the Malaysian society, Pakistani student association, the Indian student association and the Christian union.

Definitely, I would recommend to anyone that they should come to Surrey.  I think it’s a good place to start with when you are new to the country.  If you're an international student, join your society.  Participate in sports clubs and societies to make friends. Mix with people of all nationalities and make lots of new friends.
