Welcome
A message from Prof. Andrea Dlaska, Head of Department
A warm welcome to the Department of Languages and Translation Studies at the University of Surrey.
We offer a wide range of undergraduate language degrees in French, German, Spanish and Russian which you also may combine with either Business Management or a Translation pathway. Our Centre for Translation Studies specialises in teaching, scholarship and research in Translation (Studies) and Interpreting. The Centre offers opportunities for study at undergraduate and postgraduate level, including doctoral as well as Masters programmes.
The Department is also home to the University's institution-wide language programme, Languages for All, and the English Language Support Programme for all Surrey students. For international students and groups from overseas universities, we offer various Pre-Sessional courses throughout the year and particularly over the summer months. We also provide a popular programme of evening language classes for the community and a business language service.
On these pages please find further information about all the programmes in the LTS Department, our research activities, placement opportunities, as well as student and staff profiles.
Enquiries about the work of the Department are always welcome. View the contact details.
The University's institution-wide language programme "Languages for All" has been renamed "Global Graduate Award in Languages" to reflect the fact that language modules may now be taken for credit. Read more…
